Eastern Riverina Arts is honoured to host the work of prominent Australian artist Fiona Hall through the Sharing the National Collection program. Supported by the Australian Government’s National Cultural Policy ‘Revive’, this program enables the National Gallery’s extensive collection to be shared with regional galleries and cultural institutions across the country.

Fiona Hall’s extraordinary Paradisus Terrestris (1989–90) will be on display at the Station Creative Workplace in Wagga Wagga until 2028, through a long-term loan with Eastern Riverina Arts. The sculptural work transforms everyday materials into intricate organic forms, drawing on Australian historical and contemporary resonances while reflecting Hall’s sustained engagement with ecology, systems of knowledge, and Australian historical and contemporary narratives.

The National Collection comprises more than 155,000 works of art, representing the breadth of Australian art practice, including the world’s largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. Through Sharing the National Collection, audiences in the Eastern Riverina can encounter nationally significant artworks locally, enriching the region’s cultural life and strengthening connections between national collections and regional communities.

Eastern Riverina Arts Acting Executive Director Brittany Hefren says, “this loan gives our audiences a rare opportunity to experience Fiona Hall’s remarkable work locally, connecting our community with one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists. We’re proud to partner with the National Gallery of Australia to bring this extraordinary work to the Eastern Riverina.”

Eastern Riverina Arts invites the community to join us for the launch of Fiona Hall’s Paradisus Terrestris at the Station Creative Workspace.
